Hips would be unused if made voluntary

The usage of Home Information Packs (Hip) would almost certainly fall dramatically if they were made voluntary.
That is according to online conveyancing firm Convex.net, which made its comments in the wake of the Carsberg Review of Residential Property
Managing director Duncan Samuel has argued that home sellers would not use them if they did not have to because they are not a helpful marketing tool.
The Carsberg Review of Residential Property has suggested that Hips should be made voluntary or scrapped altogether.
Sir Bryan Carsberg was commissioned to conduct an extensive review of the private residential property market in England and Wales last July by Rics, the National Association of Estate Agents and the Association of Residential Letting Agents.
His report has indicated that revision is needed of the information available to consumers and about the property transaction process.
Sir Carsberg's findings showed that the home buying process has not been improved by the introduction of Hips.
