Owners want country roads to take them home

Most Britons would gladly swap living in the city for the countryside, according to a new survey, which also suggested a shift in priorities when it comes to homeownership.
Almost three out of four people would willingly spend over an hour travelling to work so as to benefit from country life, Yorkshire Bank's poll found, with three out of five feeling that being away from urban noise and pollution would boost their health and well-being.
Moreover, one in three people said they would move to the suburbs or countryside to get a better of education for their kids, while over three out of five Britons in their 20s thought that they could advance their careers without living in the city.
However, the appeal of rural life does not quite transcend regional differences as much as it does age ones, as whereas over half of all East Anglians would like to live in the country, almost four out of five Londoners prefer the convenience that the city offers.
Yorkshire Bank's head of retail noted that homebuyers are doing an increasing amount of research when hunting for the right place to live, adding that there is now a tendency among them to look for somewhere they and their families can settle for the long-term.
