You could save on a fair amount if you choose to do the conveyancing yourself. It’s claimed that all you need do is to be able to fill in the right forms – and be prepared to get bored.

However your mortgage lender will want to have the guarantee that everything is in order that a solicitor or licenced conveyancer provides. So you could do most of the legwork and get a professional quote for the final, completion stage.

It’s generally not recommended to do your own conveyancing if your home is a newly built or if it’s a flat
