If a Problem Is Revealed

Problems Revelaed by Valuations and Surveys

If either the valuation or the survey reveal problems then you’ll have to slam the brakes on your homebuying process.

If this happens you could use it as an opportunity to renegotiate the price with the sellers. (Any other buyers may well come up against the same problem, though not necessarily, as different valuers/surveyors will have different opinions).

If the sale falls through then comfort yourself that you’ve been spared a future nightmare of building work.

If the surveyor recommends specific work is done then make sure it’s done by a properly qualified person who the surveyor is happy with.

Get them to recommend a suitable local firm.

The surveyor must check up on the completed work and confirm in writing that they’re satisfied with the result.
