Going Direct – to a Mortgage Lender

You could trudge round all the big banks, Building Societies and even supermarkets, all the way down to your local tiny Building Society. (Last but certainly not least – See “Small is beautiful” in the Top Ten mortgage tips).

But remember that these will only be offering their own “products”.

You’ll need to shop around to make sure you’re getting a good deal and not throwing away thousands of pounds.

It’s much easier to do this on the phone and almost all ¬†lenders have operations geared to this.

However you may find it more convenient to do it online. You’ll soon see the difference in the user-friendliness of the various websites. This tends to reflect how good a lender they are.
