Who are we?

Mortgage Sorter is part of the MoneySorter network of websites, bringing you unbiased, independent and totally user friendly information on all aspects of UK personal finance.

It was written and developed by non-finance professionals and is aimed at normal people who are trying to make sense of all the jargon.

Whenever we've needed a financial product ourselves - be it a will, life insurance or a mortgage - we've researched the information, and put it up on the website ie by simply recording our own experience.

What's resulted is basically a labour of love.

What do we do

The website has grown into one of the top UK personal finance websites - as ranked in the top search engines like Google Yahoo and MSN.

Mortgage Sorter gives you impartial information, not advice, on all aspects of UK mortgages.

It helps normal people who are trying to make sense of all the jargon you tend to come across when buying any personal finance product.

Why did we do it?

This all resulted from a conversation between a group of friends when we all confessed complete confusion about buying financial "products".

Once our guilty secret was out we quickly agreed that it wasn't us - it was "them". After all we may not be rocket scientists but we're reasonably intelligent people.

The more we looked into it the more we saw the need for simple, jargon-free information for normal people. This website is the result.

Do we make any Money?

Unlike many similar websites we aren't driven by a need to make money.

We have other jobs and do this in our spare time.

We never advertise and rely only on word of mouth recommendations.

We pass mortgage enquiries on to qualified mortgage advisers and might receive some payment for these. However the choice of where enquiries are passed is decided by our judgement as to the quality of service that will be provided to the public and not the price we might be paid for the enquiry.

15% of any profit it makes will go to our nominated charity, The Relief Fund for Romania to help children elderly and disabled people in Romania.

Are We Regulated?

We do not technically trade in the mortgage industry so are not regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

However under the new law - a good thing - we are arguably classified as a financial promotion. To this end, and in compliance with the Financial Services Authority the website is Approved by Cradon Investments Ltd Authorised and Regulated by the Financial Services Authority FSA No: 300505
