60% of prospective first-time house buyers would be more likely to buy if they could avoid stamp duty, according to a Yorkshire Building Society poll. This would save most UK buyers nearly £3,800, or an average of over £13,000 in London. The Building Society called on the government to consider dropping stamp duty as part of its plans to resolve the housing crisis.
