A 50 year old man from west Kensington in London was sentenced to over 3 years for fraudulently claiming benefits while having secretly re-mortgaged his father’s home in an attempt to buy his own properties to let out himself.
Nicholas Forrester obtained a loan against his family home of 35 years for the sum of £300,000 and used this to finance the purchase of 3 properties in east London, in 2006. He lived in housing association accommodation and received Jobseekers Allowance, Housing and Council Tax benefit.
He pleaded guilty to several counts of dishonest representation but still claimed he felt the property was his inheritance.
